BEGINNING CHORUS &
ADVANCED CHORUS
Grade: 9-12
MAJOR CONCEPTS/CONTENT: This mixed choral group is
designed to give experience in performing in four part harmonies. Music
from Renaissance to contemporary styles, including popular and
theatrical/stage music will be performed. The students MUST participate in
all performances. Concerts are the final exam for the respective
semesters.
HARMONY EXPRESS
Grade: 9-12
MAJOR CONCEPTS/CONTENT: Harmony Express is an
extracurricular show choir that meets during seminaro and after school.
Most performances are done with CD acompanionist. Performances will
include formal concerts, spring tour, etc. Students MUST participate in
all performances. Students that do not attend the rehersals will be
removed from the organization.
USIC
THEORY
MUSIC THEORY
Grade: 9-12
MAJOR CONCEPTS/CONTENT: A study of the basic
elements in melody, rhythm, and harmony with emphasis on intervals,
scales, chords, and key relationships. This is a course for the student
interested in gaining a better understanding of the music s/he plays and
for those interested in pursuing a musical career. A mid-term and final
project will be an original composition.

COMPUTER MUSIC
Grade: 9-12
MAJOR CONCEPTS/CONTENT: The purpose of this
course is to introduce students to basic synthesizer techniques, musical
instruments digital interface (MIDI) concepts, recording techniques,
programmable rhythm techniques, music composition, and software
applications.
